The following is a general guide for watering. We have found it to be safe and effective. However, adjustments must be made in accordance to the weather. More water can be given if the cacti are exposed to more sun, heat or dehydration. Do not allow the cacti to sit in water for long periods of time, (they need good drainage) as this can lead to root rot. Both drip irrigation and manual watering are acceptable. We do not recommend watering during the heat of the day, especially in summertime. Water should be cut off from the cacti in the winter. Once plants have become established, less attention is required and perhaps a bit less water. Watering guide for Las Vegas area:
